Do you have syntax checking enabled?
There is some problems with the SQL syntax checker APIs on the iSeries
which cause WDSC to hang and also affects SEU (although the reports that I
have heard are for SQLRPGLE, COBOL is also affected).
I believe that there are a number of test PTF available if you contact IBM
support.

For the first time in AGES I got a gray screen of death in WDSC. I was
modifying an SQLCBLLE member and the workbench just hung. This is most
unfortunate, as I'm planning to train a group of COBOL programmers on the
joys of WDSC. I don't know if it's just an anomaly; I got a 300K dump
file,
but I have no idea how to read it.
I'll try again.
