EDIT:
I'm saying, you should not believe that yours is "right" simply because no
one is offering an alternative or an alternative that you believe is
better.

I don't need to have a better one to think an idea is bad, and I'm not saying
yours is bad. I'm saying, you should believe that yours is "right" simply
because no one is offering an alternative or an alternative that you believe is
better.
I'm saying, sometimes you have to come up with 1000 way to not invent the light
bulb before you find a solution that works.

Joe,
If all there is, is a solutionless pool of ideas, the first one being
offered does not automatically become the right solution. Does it?
I guess it's a Monday, because I'm not even sure what this means. Are you
saying my solution is a bad one? If so, why? Are you saying you have a
better one? If so, share it.
The problem that has been explained to me by IBM folks on both sides of the
issue is that the Rational developers want money, and that due to the
structure of IBM, Rational doesn't see any money from System i sales. Their
solution is to start charging System i developers for tools a la carte,
something we finally got rid of with 5722WDS.
I think a la carte pricing is a death knell for System i development, and
I've explained why in detail. So as a compromise I've suggested putting a
tool tax on 5722WDS and giving that money to Rational. It's better to get
10% of something than 100% of almost nothing. And that's what needs to be
expressed to IBM: very, very few people will buy development tools that cost
more money.
Do you disagree? If so, why? How many licensed of WDSC Advanced Edition
have your clients purchased? I can answer that, in my case, the answer is
zero.
