From: qsrvbas@xxxxxxxxxxxx Okay, we all know it's ridiculous thinking there's a disconnect between Vista and WDSC; and there are enough statements from IBM that make any concern over WDSC and Vista essentially moot. Vista cannot rationally be ignored for WDSC.
Tom, you might not want to bet the farm on that. Remember, WDSC is built on Eclipse. Eclipse currently has no stated support for either native Vista or 64-bit Windows. If you read the plan carefully: http://www.eclipse.org/swt/R3_3/plan.html https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=154116 https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=154118 You'll see that they only plan to support running old-style Win32 APIs under Vista, NOT the new Vista APIs (known as Windows Presentation Framework). So, whenever Vista pulls the plug on Win32 apps, Eclipse will fail (and thus so will Rational and WDSC). But at least there's a "technology preview" for WPF support. Win64 is even more problematic. There is no support, and nobody seems to give a crap. I can tell you for certain that WDSC7 does not work with Win64, and nobody at IBM even bothers to give me an official response. Joe
