I 100% agree. No alignment within those depts/walls at IBM. At George Farr's systemideveloper keynote address I got in my two cents at the end of his speech by stating that I thought IBM was catering towards select/prominent vendors with their platform independence strategy. I don't think IBM is mindful of the 'silent many' that do homegrown RPG development on their iSeries. Totally different personalities are in the trenches keeping businesses running. They aren't the type that respond to a lot of surveys or are at "IBM Capitol Hill" clamoring for what they want next on the platform. It's the first time anyone has clapped for me since I ran naked through a high school basketball game (just kidding):-) Aaron Bartell -----Original Message----- From: wdsci-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:wdsci-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of GKern@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Monday, March 26, 2007 1:02 PM To: wdsci-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: [WDSCI-L] George Farr declares feature specific pricing onhorizon for WDSC Whenever I hear that IBM wants to give me platform independence, the question begs "once I get there (to platform independence), then what will we need IBM for?" The LAMP option is already available, and by learning that skill set I can migrate my skill set away from IBM hardware and software. Does IBM really want to give it's most loyal customers a roadmap that has the potential to lead the most loyal of the loyal customers away from IBM?
