AlanAnother couple weeks of development and you will have your own $10,000 change management solution!
Just kidding - your tool sounds great - there've been a few of these things around, but none I know of digs into the component objects. Nice!
We use Turnover - it saves us lots of hassles. It does so much for us. And we are not even using it as well as we could - who does? And cost is in the 10-20 range - not 100 - no one knows how to price things like IBM does. I also think ADM is no longer available - is that right? And does it matter?

One thing that I really like about using my make tool is that it works in Green or WDSC with ease. I can compile in WDSC and then compile in PDM and the same commands are executed. <snip> What is the proper procedure to bind this program in WDSC/RSE and have the required modules and service programs rebuilt before the bind? </snip> I recently updated the tool with a new command called CHKOBJECT. CHKOBJECT deals with exactly this problem. You put CHKOBJECT commands into the header and it checks to see if the source for a lower level module has been changed since the last compile. If yes, it recompiles the lower level object before it recreates the top level object so if you want you can just recompile the top level and it will get all the lower levels. Full details are in the readme. Vernon suggested Turnover or Implementor or ADM. I agree that if you have Turnover, it is a great product and does things that my tool cannot do like updating databases. It's integration with WDSC is wonderful. Of course, instead of using the free tool, all you need is the 10 or 20 grand for Turnover or is it 100 grand? I think ADM is 100 grand. I used Implementor and it sucked big time (Try a whole day to get a couple of programs installed and then having to do it again) and it's support for this kind of thing was terrible. --This is the Websphere Development Studio Client for iSeries (WDSCI-L) mailing listTo post a message email: WDSCI-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/wdsci-l or email: WDSCI-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/wdsci-l.
