I just went to the site you mentioned and maybe I am misunderstanding
something but the prices for U.S. are as follows:

  IBM WebSphere Development Studio Client for iSeries User License + SW
Maintenance 12 Months (D5165LL)  $1,550.00



  IBM WebSphere Development Studio Client Advanced Edition for iSeries User
License + SW Maintenance 12 Months (D51LPLL)  $4,640.00



I don't know where the $3500 comes in that has followed this thread. It also
looks to be not free even for the non-advanced version. I just installed 6.1
about a month ago to try this for the first time. 6.1 came with our V5R4
upgrade.



Is there some way to get version 7 free if I already have version 6.1?

1) Click on View pricing &buy (under Pricing and Purchase)
2) Select your country

You should then be able to select either the Standard or Advanced version
and then add to you shopping cart, checkout, then download.
