Alan Campin has created a tool that lets you embed the create commands in the source (DDS in this case) ...

See http://www.think400.dk/downloads.htm ... look for COMPILE by Alan Campin ...

You can put specially formatted comments in the source, like this:

*_> DLTF FILE(@5/@4)
*_> CRTPF FILE(@5/@4) SRCFILE(@2/@1) SRCMBR(@3) +
*_> MBR(*FILE) SIZE(10000 1000 999)

Then, you use the COMPILE command to compile the object ... you can create a PDM user-defined option to invoke the COMPILE command for you from WRKMBRPDM, or from within WDSCi.

That way, each and every time you "compile", it will automatically delete the file, then recreate it.

The "readme" file has many examples, including how to set it up for use with WDSCi and PDM.

Cheers,

This may be lame, but here goes – in SEU one can change the user defaults to
replace an object (while using compile commands). While in RSE executing
program re-compiles there’s no problem. Not so when wanting to re-compile a
PF. Get thrown an error (CPF5813) because the file already exists. The
replace object option in the preferences area under iSeries Command
Execution is checked off. What else should I look at?
