I received this off-list, and I am posting (with permission) as it seems pertinent to the discussion: "Mike Kohlndorfer" <mkohlndorfer at domain corp dot phoenixintl.com> wrote on 16/01/2007 02:32:54 PM:
I was at the traveling road show in Chicago put on by IBM/Softlanding and got to speak to Don Yantzi on this topic. I found that when working with RPG or CL code, a task will stay linked to a source member, and the link to a specific source line number is maintained even as other lines are added or removed. (I access 'tasks' from the edit menu while the LPEX editor has the focus) For example: I add a task at line 30, then add 5 lines of code at line 20..., my task is now associated with line 35. *HOWEVER* Once you close the member, the link to the line number is no longer valid even though the task will still show up for the member. The line number shown for the task is no longer dynamically adjusted and as lines of code are added or deleted, the task will point to a different line than expected. Don has verified this situation and told me it was added it to the list of items to be reviewed.
