Has anyone tried just creating a .xml file on their local drive? I
recently used WDSC for some XML validation during some project testing.
I created a new .xml document on my local drive then copied the XML I
wanted checked into it. I never thought of the DTD until I saw this
thread. I went to check and the DTD had been created for me. I didn't
see the options mentioned when I right click so it may not function as
needed in this case but it would be simpler than creating a project.

Just a thought.

Rick

All that is needed is a "Simple Project". WDSC generates the
right click menu based on file extension. So if you right
click on a *.xml file in ANY project type it should bring up
a menu with the "Generate->XML Schema"
option.

I just tried it on my WDSC 6.0.1 install and it was there.

Well now I know why I both love and hate WDSC at the same time.

I opened a PMR on generating a DTD/schema from an XML document.

You can't just use RSE to edit an XML document and generate a
DTD/schema.
No, no no. You must create something called a "Dynamic Web
Project" and add your folders to it. Then you can gen a schema.

I went through so many views I don't know if I could do it again.
