Not exactly what you're after, but I click the Source option on the menu
bar, then ILE RPG Help, and then select either the Reference, Programmer's
Guide, or whatever manual is appropriate. This opens the manual with the
table of contents (ToC) and lets me whatever I really need.

The left-hand pane is kind of a pain because it's not relevant to the
current manual. As I recall, I used to be able to click on the 'Show in
Table of Contents' icon to the right of the forward and back buttons
directly above the help text. That would show the ToC for the manual on
the left-hand pane. However, this doesn't work anymore. The left-hand
pane just wastes space. Of course, I could be remembering incorrectly.

Well . . . .

Now I don't know. While typing this, I had the thought to reset my help
preferences to use IE. I did that and it brought up the ToC on the left.
I scrolled around figured out where it was at in the generic looking
default structure thinking that maybe I could navigate to the ToC while
using Firefox. I closed everything reset the preferences to use the
Default System Browser (Firefox), positioned myself on a keyword in the
RPG source and pressed F1. Now Firefox is bringing up the correctly
positioned ToC in the left-hand pane. I'll have to wait and see if it's
broken again tomorrow after I shut everything down and reboot. I don't
have time to try it right now. As it stands, things appear to be working
properly -- for now. I'll post another entry tomorrow if it's broken
again.

If it is broken (or not), the manual's table of contents is under
"Reference", "Language reference" ,"iSeries programming information",
"High-level languages", and so forth. Beware, however, that the
right-hand pane will change when you click through the obscure ToC in the
left-hand pane. So you can't keep the manual open to where you want
information and see it's relative position in the ToC unless you plug your
way through and get back to the correct page.

subject: [WDSCI-L] RPG Help

Hi All,

I am editing an RPGLE source member and I press F1 for Help. As
expected, I
get the context sensitive help but I don't see any way of getting to the
table of contents for all the RPG stuff. I know there is a TOC link on
every
page in the help that comes from CODE but I thought that it was there in
RSE
as well.

BTW the Contents on the left are for WDSC items - no mention of language
help (that I can see).

Am I missing something or is this the way it works?

Regards

Paul Tuohy
