What language are your mainframe source programs written in? How are you compiling them in WDSC? My experience with VSS is that I used to use VSS for Visual Basic and JSPs, prior to using WDSC. When I moved to WDSC, I attemped to get VSS to work with WDSC and got very frustrated. In a moment of frustation I set up a CVS repository on a spare PC, then used the CVS from within WDSC. The whole process of getting everything working took about 1-2 hours, including reading the documentation. ( the CVS client is built into Eclipse/WSDC, so no plugin was needed. ) After CVS was set up, I only used VSS for Visual Basic projects. For all things Java/JSP related I used CVS in WDSC. Sarah, Fair question. We are new to iSeries. For right now, the iSeries is functioning as our database server. We hope to start migrating some applications from VSE to iSeries and I am trying to get our working environment set up in anticipation of that. WDSC is going to be a great tool to use. Since about 1999, we have been storing our mainframe source programs in VSS. It is fantastic for version control. If there was a way to interface with VSS from WDSC, it would be incredibly convenient. Our workflow starts with checking out a source from VSS and then editing it, compiling, etc. If we could do the check-out and check-in from WDSC, it would just be simpler. It's a not a big deal if we can't because each of the development staff already has the VSS client on their desktops. -- Regards, Michael Rosinger Systems Programmer / DBA Computer Credit, Inc. 640 West Fourth Street Winston-Salem, NC 27101 336-761-1524 m rosinger at cciws dot com -- This is the Websphere Development Studio Client for iSeries (WDSCI-L) mailing list To post a message email: WDSCI-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/wdsci-l or email: WDSCI-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/wdsci-l.
