Man you never realize how productive you are with these tools until you have to live without them! I have been spending a miserable weekend wrestling with problems with both WDSC and CODE. They both cause problems when talking to a new V5R3 system. It has been so bad that I've had to resort to SEU! I'm running version 6.0.1 of both WDSC and CODE. Machine is at latest PTF level as best I can tell. Certainly "Verify Connection" in WDSC and "Check PTFs" in CODE think so! Both products can retrieve lists of libraries and source file members. CODE can both retrieve source members and save them. WDSC seems unable to do either. Neither product can verify if the file is not already in the cache. And WDSC seems confused even about that. Both products can do everything they should with other system which indicates a problem with the host but ... ? This is from the CODE comms log file: EVFCTCPD.EXE Sun Jul 23 19:20:21 2006 ** Error logging begins ** EVFCTCPD.EXE Sun Jul 23 19:20:21 2006 Message not found EVFCTCPD.EXE Sun Jul 23 19:20:23 2006 Message not found EVFCTCPD.EXE Sun Jul 23 19:20:23 2006 sendRequestThreadFn run(): WVCC_Run_Server_Pgm error=1054. I can never find the %$#% log files for WDSC** - but the message is the one with the empty host message that others here have reported. We've tried most of the fixes mentioned on this list - but nobody seems to have ever reported what cured it for them. One of the PCs with the problem is a brand new PC, so there are certainly no "old" cache issues. (** Dear IBM please make them accessible via a menu option or something like CODE does) Anybody got any clues before I'm forced to suffer the pain of using SEU any longer than I already have!
