Some new info concerning the Appearance change after a compare. I have noticed on the bottom of all open source tabs the following message...

Uncaught exception in class "com.ibm.etools.iseries.editor.ISeriesEditorRPGILEParser". Document parser was disabled.

Subject: Re: [WDSCI-L] Source Compare/Merge added to RSE Extensions

I don't know if anyone else has tried installing these yet, but after
installing the updates (using automatic updates feature), I lost syntax
highlighting in LPEX for RPG source. I will hunt down the solution in the
archives.

The RSE Extensions have been updated to version 6.1.0. This new version

brings three new features to the RSE Extensions:

1. Graphical Source Compare/Merge. Basically works like PDM options
54/55. Select your development source member, right-click and choose
RSE
Extensions -> Compare or Merge. This brings up a dialog to specify the
additional member(s) and then shows the results using the Eclipse
graphical compare/merge engine. In order to work properly on iSeries
source code the first 12 bytes, the sequence number and date, have to be

stripped from the local member. So when you save source from this
editor
those bytes are reset to default values.

2. Edit Data Area. Right-click on a *DTAARA object and choose RSE
Extensions -> Change Data Area and you get a dialog that shows the
attributes and current value of the *DTAARA. You can edit the value and

update the contents of the *DTAARA using the dialog.

3. Display Data Queue. You get the idea. Right click on a *DTAQ and
choose RSE Extensions -> Display Data Queue. This brings up a dialog
that
shows the attributes of the *DTAQ as well as the contents of the first
item in the queue based on the sequence.

There is a bit more detail on the RSE Extensions Overview page:

http://support.softlanding.com/opensource/site/overview.html

If you already have the extensions installed, checking for updates from
within WDSC should find this new version and install it. Otherwise, to
do
a first time install or to view more information just visit this page:

http://www.softlanding.com/websphere/rse.htm

WDSC Lite users, I am not exactly sure what you do. I believe you are
technically supposed to apply updates to your main version of WDSC and
then re-run the process of creating the Lite version. You might also
just
be able to copy the plug-in folder for the new version to the WDSC Lite
folder.

Finally, just as a reminder, the RSE Extensions are available for free
under an open source license, the IBM CPL. It would be great if some of

you in the community wanted to hone your Java skills by contributing to
the project. The new dialogs for *DTAARA and *DTAQ would be fairly easy

to extend to other object types and would be a good learner project for
someone that wanted to contribute new extensions.

Thanks

Mark
