Well, so much for this being a lively discussion.

Actually, I use Object filters, then I use filter pools. So I might have
say - 4 libraries that are part of a "group" (or "project"). I will setup
4 object filters. One for each library. Then in the filter, I use a
filter string of Object = "Q*" (for QSRC, QCLSRC, etc). or sometimes, I
just do object name of *, and the Object attribute of pf-src. What this
allows me to do is to click on the + beside the filter name (which is
usually the same as the library name), then I get 4 lines or so that show
QCLSRC, QDDSSRC, QRPGSRC, QSRC, etc. Then I click on the plus beside one
of the source file names and then all of the source show up. Then I double
click on the source member name to edit it. That's all done in RSE, so I
get the compile options, etc. Then sometimes, I'll take those object
filters and put them into a "filter pool". That way, I might have a filter
pool (under iSeries objects) that says "Payroll System". Then under
Payroll System, I'll have my 4 or 5 libraries that deal with the PR
system.

I know that we have other developers here that combine sources from
several libraries into one filter. I kinda of like to keep things
segregated by library name though.

Hope that helps some.

Re: [WDSCI-L] Iseries Project Navigator

Jeff,

I've been using a single filter for all the source members in my
library.
I thought about trying to create a "project" by using filters, but it
seems this can only be accomplished if the names of all the source
objects I want in my project begin or end with some characters common to
them all.
In other words, I can't cherry pick the members to include in the
filter.

I can see where the projects would come in handy for jet-setting folks
like Mr. Cozzi who would do a lot of work on their laptops from 25000
feet in the air, then hook up with the Iseries later on. Since I can't
afford a lap-top (or a plane ticket), it's just more convenient to work
with them from the RSE, saving and compiling straight to the Iseries.

Greg
