It installs side by side with 5.1.2, so in that sense I do not think there is any reason not to just load it and decide for yourself. I think it is faster and has less problems than previous versions. There are over 1.2 GB of updates. They are mostly for the base Rational component and I would not classify installing them as urgent, although you obviously should. I think you can get started while they are downloading. You can get the bulk of the updates in zip files if you have several PC's to update.
