Don't consider battery life when picking your laptop (because the Centrino and Pentium M's will be enticing). Instead pick the biggest P4 HT proc you can find and get at least a 60GB HD (80GB is better) and make sure it is 7200RPM. Get the extra batter that sticks in the CD drive bay to get a little more time unplugged if necessary. I have an IBM Thinkpad as my primary machine and I so wish I had gone with the P4 HT 3.02MHz processor. I have a Pentium Centrino 1.7 processor and it works great for everything except for processor intensive stuff (WDSc, massive DB testing, etc) HTH, Aaron Bartell -----Original Message----- From: wdsci-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:wdsci-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Steve Simpson (AVR IT Dept) Sent: Thursday, November 24, 2005 2:41 AM To: 'wdsci-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx' Subject: [WDSCI-L] WSSD All, This is going to seem a strange question, but I'll ask it anyway................ I currently use a desktop PC (IBM ThinkCentre 3.2Ghz with 2Gbyte memory) running WSSD and portal toolkit and I want to get it replaced with a laptop as I'm going to be out of the office a lot but still need to do development on the road. What spec laptop would you recommend?
