Ugh.  I hate hearing this.  While I agree that the CPYTOIMPF problem was
particularly painful, how many other cases can you point to where IBM
has broken backwards compatibility?  Other than the oft-lamented library
list issue, I can't think of one (okay, WebSphere 4.0 - but we should
have seen that coming a mile away).

Yes, the CPYTOIMPF was a fiasco.  But to be "gun-shy" because of it
seems a little bit of an over-reaction.  However, I could be way off
base here: I haven't had to deal with the problem, so maybe it's worse
than I thought.  But isn't there a PTF and/or a workaround for the
issue?

At the same time, are you still running Windows 95?  Because if you
aren't, then you've gone through a whole slew of backwards
incompatibilities, one after the other, year after year, just keeping
your PCs up to date.  I'm, not saying that's a good thing; it's not.
But I'm trying to keep a sense of perspective here.
