I think that STRPCCMD is something that works with Client Access/400.

Why not just construct a hyperlink to the document and let the client
machine decide on the viewer program to use. Would that not be better
than trying to explicitly run programs on the client machine (which could
be an action blocked by a firewall or such on the client machine could it
not?).

[WDSCI-L] Webfacing & STRPCCMD in a CL...

Hey all,

Has anyone experimented with clicking a hyperlink in a webfaced
application and during the processing, launching a CL program that does a
STRPCCMD? If so, have you encountered any problems with it? I'm in the
middle of creating an application that will allow users to click a link
and open a document on our network. I can easily do this on a
greenscreen, but was just curious if anyone had ever done something like
this before. Thanks.

Shane
