I agree with you. I have used WSDC and have moved back to CODE because I
feel that I can be more productive with multiple views of the same
source. One way I use it is to have one view opened to the D specs and be
coding some where in the C specs - I can just flip over to the view of the
D specs and add a new variable, or view the definition of an existing
variable, then just flip back to where I was before. If I can have the two
views open on two monitors, even better! Sometimes I have 3 or 4 views
open at once, each one set to a particular part of the program or the
display specs.
WSDC does a better job auto indenting on free form RPG. I don't see myself
using free form in CODE. I refuse to use an editor where I have to
manually adjust all the indents - what a waste of time!. I can't recall if
WSDC has a reformat or "beautify" mode for the indents in free form, but if
not, it should have one. I know Eclipse, and therefore WSDC, have one for
Java. I will be using Eclipse or possibly WSDC for Java code.
Some of the other posts mentioned that the more modern programming methods
result in smaller source members and are therefore easier to use in a
single view. This may be so, but as a contractor I occasionally have to
work on some older code that is somewhat larger. Joe might appreciate
this, but some of the code I have had to work on is generated ASSET code
from BPCS that has source members with 45,000 to 50,000+ lines. You can't
even open then in SEU. Some of them are almost too big to run an indent in
CODE.
I will keep looking at WSDC releases to re-evaluate it for my needs.
I do use prototypes, subprocedures and more of the newer ILERPG stuff when
I can, but a lot of my work happens to be retrofitting old code with a new
program here or there.

PC programming editor is missing, since it's one of the things that makes
CODE so valuable to me. I can see myself remaining a dinosaur who uses
