Handling of /free source lines in editor

I don't recall seeing this mentioned before .......

Is there a fix/setting to control how /free lines are displayed?

If you key one in that exceeds the line length there's nothing obvious to
show that you have done it.  In CODE you can see your mistake because the
color coding changes at the 80 character boundary.  I could understand WDSC
not doing this if you could code /free form lines as long as you like, but
since we are stuck with column 80 .....
