I just found out about the slow performance when the filter has a large
number of objects. I setup a filter for one of our releases that
contains about 5000 objects, and boy was it slow. It took at least 15
min to get the list of objects, and then when I checked out an object
took another at least 15 min to refresh the list, and another 15
whenever I did anything that required the list to be refreshed. It would
be nice if it was possible to setup child filters, where I could have
the parent filter limit the objects to the release objects, and then
have the child filters filter that list down to a useable subset of that
list. I also want to be able to filter based on the object text.

For the developer, I don't want a filter based on the developer. I want
to set a default developer and or project/task, for use when I am
checking out an object. We have a very large number of developers, since
a "developer" is really a development environment, AKA work library, we
create a new "developer" for almost every project. Hence my desire to be
able to associate a "developer" with a WDSCi project. At a minimum it
would be nice to be able to subset the list of developers, maybe to the
deveoplers associated with the objects release/application, or with the
selected project/task.

Slow is an understatement.  I was hoping to use the Aldon All Parts
filter to replace searching the repository on the green screen but the
speed is so bad it's useless.  Jury is still out on smaller lists be
project as I have only had it installed for a week.

Joe- You can set up an RSE Aldon LM(i) filter by developer. Its done
by
setting the filter property named "Developer Env" to your AS/400
profile. You can also narrow down the filter to specific ACMS groups
and
ACMS applications. Be warned that if the application has many objects
in
it, then the filter performance is very slow.

I was specifically talking about the  "New" --> "Project" -->
"iSeries"
projects. I don't know off hand what, if anything, you can do with an
iSeries project that you can't do with a simple project. But I would
think that a product that is one of the top 2 or 3 iSeries change
management systems, would try to make sure that you could use it with
the iSeries projects. Of course this is also a CMS product which has
no
ability to "distribute" an object deletion, which I would think would
have to be one of the most basic and fundamental functions of a change
management system. Don't they ever need to remove any obsolete
objects?

It would also be helpful if you could specify a default ACMS developer
and/or ACMS project for either a WDSCi project, or an RSE Aldon LM(i)
filter.

What do you mean "you can't use the plugin with an iSeries project."?

Granted, you can't say "New" --> "Project" --> "iSeries", but you can
do
new, project, simple.   Is there something you can do with an
"iSeries"
project that can't be done through the "simple" project with LM(i)?
