Sam-

Aldon never notified me of the new plugin. I found it by checking their
website. I had the same issue as you with the password expiring. After
working with Aldon support for over a week, they found a solution. I
right-click the connection name, go to the subsystems area then enter my
new password. Then I click "apply" then "ok." Just clicking "ok" alone
does not do it.

I agree with you about the error messages. I should not have to wade
into the spool files to get the compile errors. What is worse is Aldon
does not even provide a spool file plugin for WDSC! I had to get that
plugin from another vendor!

I am currently calling them every day or so to follow up on an open
issue I have regarding the filter performance being pathetic. I have
another open issue regarding the lack of the compiler listing if the
compile does succeed. ( I only see the listing on failed compiles. )

As you can probably tell, I am not thrilled about the 4.2 version of the
plugin. The only good thing I can say about it is that it is better than
the previous version.

It's quite a while since I tried the plugin, so I'm probably out of
date.
The one I tried kind of assumed you were also running Affiniti, and I
had to
get help from Support to make it work, and they had to get help from the
developers. I also never did find a way to change my password when it
expired, so each time I started WDSC I had to put in a password just for
Aldon. I finally got rid of it.

I'll have to look into it again as time permits, thought it seems
crucial to
me that to be effective it also return the error messages the same was
RSE
does now if you just do a straight compile. You shouldn't have to go
work
with spool files to find compile errors.

It looks like I'm slated for some system testing and won't be doing much
development for a couple of months, so maybe I'll wait until 7.3 comes
out.

Did Aldon send you any notification of the upgraded plugin? I don't
recall
hearing anything from them.
