I know from developing my own plugins that when an icon file is missing, you see a very small red square in its place. In other apps I have run on Windows in the past, I have seen black icons when Windows runs out of Resources. I do not know if I have seen that problem since Win2K/XP came out though as the amount of "Resources" were expanded greatly. Also, assuming you have rebooted and restarted that would be very unlikely on any version of Windows. I wonder if there could be an issue with an unsupported color depth on your video driver? Has anything changed in that area?
