Vern, Yes, I get an outline view, but it just jumps the source to the major sections of my code. The outline view does not show the fields defined in the WORKING STORAGE SECTION of the program. It shows the named sections of the source code, and the 01 groups of the field definitions. I don't know if that makes sense to you, but in COBOL all the fields are defined in the WORKING STORAGE SECTION or the FILE SECTION. I know from my early days with RPG, that you can define fields on the fly. I assume this is still the case. You can also define fields in one of the specs at the top of the program, if I remember correctly. I have not written RPG for 15 years, so my RPG is _very_ rusty. I still understand quite a bit when I look at source code, but it would take an act of Congress to get me to write in RPG again. ;^)> (that's me with a beard smiling!) The list has to be navigated with page up and down keys, and with the arrow keys. I would like to see the list jump to the first variable with the letter I type. For example, if I display a list of variables, or of commands, and I type the letter 'e' I would like to have the list positioned at the first variable or command that starts with that letter. Commands I know really well for COBOL, but the variables could be a big help with the list. Jim
