For a forum, I could suggest the studio400 forum on news.software.ibm.com.

RE: [WDSCI-L] Some obvious questions on WDSci ?

So, I've got some answers on question 2 and 5 but what about the others
(for details see below)?

1. Why are we not using a forum like set-up instead of (or together
with) this mailing list?

3. Why is there no verify option on RPG/400 code in WDSci?

4. Will functions like CODE/design be implemented in WDSci?

4b. Is there a place on the internet where I can find the 'vision' and
future plans on WDSci?

6. 'Show fields' on RPG/400 does not work 100%

BTW, Where can I report bugs and possible improvements? And will they be
heard?

Hope you experts have some answers,

Bas

Onderwerp: [WDSCI-L] Some obvious questions on WDSci ?

I'm new here so forgive me for asking obvious questions:

1. Why are we not using a forum like set-up instead of (or together
with) this mailing list?

2. I just made the step from 5.0 to 5.1.2, why is the behaviour on the
backspace/delete key in the LPEX-editor changed?
In 5.0 the editor had is somewhat (but not quite) 'notepad' like
behavoir on using backspace/delete. For instance: deleting a blank line
by using backspace/delete would work in 5.0 but in 5.1 I'm forced to use
the old 'd' option. Is there no simple way to make (a large part) of the
editor behaviour more like I'm editing a simple text document in
notepad.

3. Why is there no verify option on RPG/400 code in WDSci?
Now I'm forced to open CODE/400 to verify or use the green screen
compile to find out if I did any good programming. I find this a very
important issue!

4. Will functions like CODE/design be implemented in WDSci?
In general: I just don't understand why not all mayor features that
already existed are not implemented in WDSci! Am I working with a Beta
version? It's just that I find myself swithing from WDSci to CODE to
Client Access to iSeries Navigator and back again. It would be so much
better to really integrate all the development features into one
development environment. I hate myself for saying this but: WDSci has a
very long way to go considering MS visual studio (especially the new
'Whitby'). And don't get me wrong, I think IBM is going the right way
but not quite there yet. By the way is there a place on the internet
where I can find the 'vision' and future plans on WDSci?

5. Why is my WDSci so SLOOOOOOWWW?
This just HAS to be a general question but I HAVE to ask: Loading a list
of all objects in my development library takes ages (minutes actuatly).
Is there a way to have these lists loaded with a little more
intelligence? I'am only able to see a part of the list why not load that
instead of all my 10.000+ objects? (Tried filters but for some reason
these filters always seem to hold the data that I DONT need.

6. 'Show fields' on RPG/400 does not work 100% For instance: the start
of my F-spec: 'FMGGNGDPFIF E ....' Right clicking this and using Show
fields returns: FMGGNGDPFIF not found. So typing a blank after the
filename is the solution but then the syntax is incorrect right? I know
this is not a big issue, but I already had this problem in 5.0, why not
fix it?

Before I find myself typing a list with everything I don't like I'll
stick with this for now. Again: I think this is te right road to walk
but we're not quite there yet.

Now, bring on the comments ;-)

Onderwerp: [WDSCI-L] Poll on using both WDSCi and ADTS

I came across an interesting poll at iSeries Network:

When coding RPG, COBOL, or CL programs, 6% of poll respondants used
WDSCi exclusively and 18% of poll respondants used a combination of
WDSCi and SEU.

I too use a combination of WDSCi and ADTS tools to get my work done. Is
this common? Do other people on this list tend to use WDSCi exclusively
or in combination with traditional ADTS tools?

Thanks,
Kelly
