Charles, Don Yantzi posted steps to try and avoid some JVM crashes. I will include the content here. Please give it a try. ============================== We have recently linked a lot of these JVM crashes to a defect in the IBM Java Virtual Machine (JVM) that runs the workbench. The bad news is that we do not yet have a fix ready to ship for this problem, but the good news is that there is an easy workaround. WDSc actually ships with 2 IBM JVM's that can be used to run the workbench. By default a high performance JVM called J9 is used, this is the JVM that has the defect. Following the instructions below you can switch to using just the standard JVM as opposed to the J9 JVM. You may notice a slight decrease in performance using the standard JVM, but as soon as we get the fix out you can then switch back to J9. Here are the instructions: Note: for others on the list that are not experiencing these crashes there is no reason to switch to the standard JVM. Steps to disable J9: 1.- Locate the file wdsc.ini. One way to find the directory is by right clicking on the WDSC icon in Start -> Programs, and selecting Properties. The default directory for this is: C:\Program Files\IBM\WebSphere Studio\Application Developer\v5.1 (or v5.1.2) 2.- Make a backup copy of it. 3.- Edit wdsc.ini to remove the line VMArgs=-Xj9 =================================== Eric Simpson WebSphere Development Studio Client for iSeries, IBM Toronto Lab, D1/140/8200/MKM Phone: (905) 413-3226, T/L: 969-3226, Fax: (905) 413-4850 Email: esimpson@xxxxxxxxxx CWilt@xxxxxxxxxxx m Sent by: To wdsci-l-bounces@m wdsci-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx idrange.com cc Subject 08/30/2004 08:59 [WDSCI-L] Help! JVM Terminated. AM Exit code=128 Please respond to Websphere Development Studio Client for iSeries Twice today I've gotten a JVM Terminated. Exit Code=128. Here is the rest of the most recent message: C:\Program Files\IBM\Websphere Studio\Site Developer\v5.1.2\eclipse\jre\bin\javaw.exe -Xj9 -cp C:\Program Files\IBM\Websphere Studio\Site Developer\v5.1.2\eclipse\startup.jar org.eclipse.core.launcher.Main -os Win32 -ws Win32 -arch x86 -showsplash C:\Program Files\IBM\Websphere Studio\Site Developer\v5.1.2\eclipse\eclipse.exe -showsplash 600 Files\IBM\Websphere Studio\Site Developer\v5.1.2\.\eclipse\eclipse.exe -data C:\Documents and Settings\cwilt\My Documents\IBM\wdsc\workspace -feature com.ibm.wdsclient Both times I've lost all recent changes to the source members I was editing via RSE. Is there anything I can do to fix this? Would change the workbench save interval from 5min to 1min help prevent me from losing source?
