To me all icons look alike regardless of how carefully they were designed. The visual portion of my brain seems to have been burned out or not included. The phrase "visual aid" is an oxymoron to me. I have to run the mouse cursor over the icons to get the comforting text from the tool tip until I memorize which icon is in which position. One reason I prefer Mozilla to M$ is that it's possible to replace the toolbar icons with text. You can do it in Client Access too, but it's more work. My theory about icon mutability is simple--the underlying code doesn't support it because nobody cared, it was forgotten, or something was considered more important to include to meet a deadline. I'm tolerant of people who like icons. My wife identifies cds by the color of the insert. The home made ones with white inserts with just the name on them drive her crazy. -----Original Message----- From: wdsci-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:wdsci-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Kelly Cookson Sent: Wednesday, August 11, 2004 7:23 AM To: 'Websphere Development Studio Client for iSeries' Subject: RE: [WDSCI-L] Change Icon on Perspective Like Joe, I'm kind of curious as to *why* we can't change icons. The developers in my shop have commented negatively about the fact that all the icons look alike. Nor can you delete a perspective. Hopefully, the Eclipse people will get to this someday. Mark wdsci-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx wrote on 08/11/2004 10:12:03 AM:
