I'm a little worried that everyone posting which such high hardware
requirements will put of those with older PC's, in departments with tight
hardware budgets from even trying WDSCi.

Until we upgraded to new equipment last month I was using WDSCi quite
happily on a 1.2Ghz Celeron with 512mb. This includes running the Websphere
Test Environment and Tomcat Test Environment. The WTE would take a couple of
minutes to start, but after that response was fine.

Prior to that, I was happily using WDSC 4 on my home computer, a PIII 450
with 640mb, again including the WTE.

As with most java-based applications, memory is more important than
processor speed. If your boss won't/can't stump up for a new PC, then get a
memory upgrade instead.

Chris.

need a Pentium II processor and 256MB or RAM.

As far as I can tell, IBM's quoted numbers apply to the CODE and VARPG
portions of the product. You can load the whole of WDSc (no option for
selective install until the next release) and then _only_ use CODE and/or
VARPG. If you do that then a PII and 256Mb is fine.

As others have said, for WDSc usage you need a P4 at 2Ghz and at least
512Mb.
