   Do you have any plugins installed that access the iSeries?  I had a
   similar problem after I installed Aldon's CMS plugin.  I spent about a
   week trying to get my passwords right before I dawned on me to look at the
   CMS plugin.  (Of course, I couldn't find a place to change the password in
   it, but since it didn't do what I wanted anyway I just disabled it.  That
   solved the problem.)
