Robin,

Which version of WDSc are you using and which service packs are applied?
When you say "crash" do you mean an error message (if so which one) or the
whole IDE just shutdown? You do not need DB2 XML Extender PTF installed on
iSeries side in order to use the tools, but you would need this if you
choose to go with the 2nd option and run the results generated by the
tools.

Instead of using the import wizards try to just do a copy / paste from
Windows Explorer into your workbench project for the .xml file.

Please send me the xml file directly so I can try it here.

Thanks.

Good morning,

Thanks for all the people who replied my email!

After I did some research, WDSCi should be able to convert XML file to the
database file on AS/400. However, when I tried it from XML perspective, My
WDSCi crashed several times. I tried on my co-workers machine, the same
thing happened. What I did pretty much the same as Mr. Don Yantzi
mentioned in his email. I think there may be a bug in WDSCi XML function.
Another thing I'm not sure is whether I need get XML extender PTF
installed on the AS/400 side to run XML WDSCi. Anyway, I just want to
share my experience. What I did in WDSCi XML was as the following:

1. Import the XML file to XML perspective in WDSCi.
2. Try to generate DTD fromt the XML, and WDSCi crashes. If Mr. Don Yantzi
need the XML file to debug, I can email to you.
3. If step 2 is successful, I'm going to use the Generate Data option, and
it would have worked.

So I went back the old way and it worked:
1. Use Access to import the XML and generate a flat file.
2. Use Client Access to upload the flat file.
3. Use the RPG to create the data record based on the Tag.

Hope this helps!

Robin
