Good question! My CD has "WebSphere Development Studio Client for iSeries Version 5.1" printed on the label. CD part number "C26QFML". I was looking at the following install text: WebSphere(R) Development Studio Client for iSeries(TM), Version 5.1, Installation Notes These installation notes apply to IBM WebSphere(R) Development Studio Client for iSeries(TM), Version 5.1. This version is designed to be installed only on a PC workstation, and is available only on CD and DVD. The Readme file contains prerequisite information, limitations of the product, and information not included in the documentation. For information on migrating from Development Studio Client Version 4.0, Version 5.0, or from WebSphere Development Tools V5R1M0, see the Migration Guide. +++++++++++++ Notes for Windows 2000 and Windows XP Because of a change in how Microsoft Installer uses environmental variables in Windows 2000 and XP, follow these rules: Only an administrator can install or uninstall the product on a workstation. The same administrator must ensure that the system environment variables described in the table below are set. In the table, x: refers to the drive where the product is installed. System variable name must include this entry CLASSPATH x:\WDSC\JAVA HELP x:\wdsc\help IPF_PATH32 x:\wdsc\system LOCPATH x:\wdsc\system PATH x:\wdsc You must reboot the workstation after the variables are set. Log in as a PowerUser or an Administrator to use the product. ... more ... more -----Original Message----- From: DeLong, Eric [mailto:EDeLong@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Monday, January 19, 2004 2:35 PM To: 'Websphere Development Studio Client for iSeries' Subject: RE: [WDSCI-L] 5.1 Install Question; Missing WDSC Don, Are you sure you are using the right CD's? IBM had WDT 5.1 (Code/400 and VARPG product for OS400 V5) which was subsequently replaced with WDSCi 4.0, WDSCi 5.0, and finally WDSCi 5.1. The reason I ask, I'm not aware of any environment variables that must be set up for WDSCi 5.1. Anybody got an idea? System / installer has: 1) XP with service pack 1 2) Admin rights 3) "Fresh" install - not an upgrade 4) OK I did not set up the environment variables before the install but, that caused no problem on other similar machines.
