All filters, be they library, object, member, command, job, IFS or local,
apply to all server connections by default. To change that default, you
have to enter a slightly advanced world by turning on Show Filter Pools
in the dropdown in the title bar of the Remote Systems view. Then, right
click on the iSeries Objects node under your connection, right click and
use New->Filter Pool to create a new filter pool. By default, this pool
will only be referenced by the connection it is created under. So now
when you create a new filter, select this pool to place it in. Indeed, you
can now turn off "Show filter pools" if you want.

Next release there will be a new checkbox on all the filter wizards, asking
if you want the filter to be unique to this connection or not. If so, we'll
create
a special filter pool just for that connection, on your behalf.

Are library filters supposed to apply to all server connections? It
doesn't
make any sense, but that's what's happening to me with 5.1 and it also
occurred to a number of students in class the other day.

Is this an issue with the 5.1 fixes that I can't get?
