I don't beleive you can turn it off. I am assuming you are talking about the autoactivation characters such as '%', and '.', correct? other than these characters you turn code assist by doing a ctrl-space. However, if you type % we automatically display all the built in functions the same for the '.' we automatically give you the DS subfields. If it is the autoactivation charaters that you want to turn off then my answer to you is Wait. We are looking at giving you a way to do that possibly in the preference page.
