Excellent point Mark. A true GUI tool (as opposed to basic WebFacing) "c"ouldn't be running in a interactive subsystem. Therefore compiling something interactively from a GUI tool should not hit your interactive load. And it's not like the bad old days of slug processors where it took several minutes to compile a program. I can still remember a programmer getting the riot act from a VP because his compile killed the system (way back before we had a development machine). I think we "pantsed" the other programmer who narced on him. Rob Berendt -- "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."
