Hi Chris,

I think I know what is going on... Distributed Debugger actually
establishes connection
from the iSeries to your PC. However, first we figure out the IP address of
your PC using
standard socket APIs.
We have come across this problem when using a CISCO VPN software. The IP
address that
software assigns to your PC is not visible to the socket APIs. I suspect
that Aventail does
things similarly... You can actually check this by issuing IPCONFIG command
on your PC ( that
will give you IP address of your PC as seen by socket APIs) and compare it
with the IP address
that Aventail assigns.

Unfortunately, there are no workarounds in the Distributed Debugger for
this problem. The good
news though is that Integrated iSeries Debugger in WDSC 5.0 has a way to
solve this problem.
Basically, you have an option of 'manually' specifying an IP address of
your PC.

Regards,
Vadim.

Hi all,

I have been using the distributed debugger with no problem from home in the
past, however, recently my company has switched to using Aventail so that
we can use our own ISPs rather than dialing up through the company server.
Ever since I installed and started using Aventail I can't get the debugger
to work. Has anyone encountered this and even more important, is there a
workaround for it? I'm using debugger version 9 that comes with WDSCI
Version 4.0.

Thanks for any input!
