During the install of WDSC 5.0, I experienced a blue screen during the shutdown portion of the reboot process. I had many applications open during the install (might as well give it the sledge hammer test). IBM's suspicion was memory. I have been running WDSC 5.0 fine after the blue screen during the installation. If anyone else experiences blue screens during installation, you may want to let someone know so they can help find a pattern. Here is IBM's response: <snip> Thanks for letting us know about the problem. Although there are known problems with the WDSC V5 installation, blue screen issues have been rare. I suspect there was a system memory conflict. WDSC V5 uses a lot of available memory, especially on the first boot after installation. SInce Windows tends to start system files early in the reboot this would confirm my suspicion. What I cannot explain is why is does not happen all the time. Perhaps the unique combination of software on your PC created the conflict. I will close the call unless you have further questions. Thank you for bringing the problem to our attention. . Thank you for using IBM iSeries Support. <end snip> Thanks, Craig Strong
