I must be using different GUI's then you because I have never used any GUI
app that lets me select a bunch of items in a list and then run some
"command" where I substitute in an extra parm that I want to apply to each
selection.

I think certainly the delete case is handled in GUI, and as far as I know
it is handled in RSE too.

I think the move to Java will be a good one. In the long term it will aid
us in developing the apps of the future that combine Java/Web with RPG.
You may feel otherwise, but I hardly considered anything in Code/400 or CPO
something that we should try to build on for the future. The REXX macros
were handy, and hopefully they will be brought forward, but they were
supported only by the LPEX editor, not the Designer or CPO and you could
not use it to build complex GUI apps.

The spooled file plugin we developed shows what is possible with RSE and
Eclipse. I think this is a step we will all benefit from taking.

I don't think that "natural" comes into it Mark. The things that Vern has
pointed out are "natural" in Windows, and I suspect in Linux desktops too
although I am not familiar enough to judge. While I love many of the
things
about WDSc, I just wish that the person who did the design for the new
options showed some sign of having at least _looked_ at what people did
with
PDM. I expected (reasonably I think ) that where it made sense WDSc would
be a superset of PDM. It isn't - there are many things you can't really do
without digging into Java. The fact that the environment is extensible is
great, but why not though Rexx so that those of us who have invested in
CODE
can get more immediate benefit. Why not bring in the PDM user defined
options notion the way CPO did? Why do we have to reinvent the wheel to
replace functionality that we already have in both PDM and CPO?

I just hate having to take two steps backwards before I can move forwards
again.
