There is a large body of help that ships with the product. All of it can be accessed from the Help perspective in the Development Studio Client IDE and some can also be accessed from the Help menus (or by pressing F1) in tools that are not part of the IDE. To get to the Help perspective, first launch the IDE: Start > Programs > WebSphere Development Studio Client > WebSphere Studio Site Developer After the IDE has started, click Help > Help Contents select Development Studio Client from the drop down menu. For Development Studio Client, there are three tabs at the bottom of the perspective: Components/Classic tools/Search. For information such as RPG/400 language reference, select the Classic tools tab, expand the CODE icon. There are also several other language references and programming guides in the same area (e.g. ILE RPG, ILE COBOL, COBOL/400, C/C++). To access documentation for newer tools such as the WebFacing tool and Remote systems explorer, click the Components tab. For search, click the Search tab. The first time search is used, the help system will index the information. Since there is quite a bit of documentation shipped, indexing can take a while. If possible, it's preferable to install the lastest service pack first as the current setup is for the help to re-index when search is first used after installing a service pack. Service packs are available through the update page at: ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/as400/products/ad/wdt400/v4/sp/html/update.html HTH James Littlejohn IBM Canada Limited, Toronto Software Lab WebSphere Development Tools/400 Information Development D1/415/8200/MKM 905-413-4343 tl 8-969-4343 fax 905-413-4850 jlittlej@ca.ibm.com vhamberg@attbi.co m To: wdsci-l@midrange.com Sent by: cc: wdsci-l-admin@mid Subject: Re: [WDSCI-L] Help: WDSc40: SP2: Help, All & RPG; how do I search the help text ? range.com 08/26/2002 06:57 PM Please respond to wdsci-l RPG manuals can be seen in the iSeries InfoCenter under the Programming link on the left.
