Mark,
My understanding is that the VRPG software has its own data layer.
Are you planning to use the ASNA's RPG or write something custom in VB.Net/C# ?
If they are using full-on VRPG I would see what they offer in their stuff first.
Also, what type of app ?
In .Net you would typically use SQL to update records in the database in .Net depending on your apps functionality.
VRPG probably has some functionality similar to CHAIN/READ/WRITE/UPDATE already built in to its language.
Where it probably gets a little fuzzy is they compile the VRPG code to .Net.
I would suggest maybe contacting ASNA for a little input and training if possible.

subject: [SystemiDotNet] ASNA Visual RPG
Hello all,
I'm at a client that is using ASNA VRPG for .Net. I have been tasked to create a data access layer over their database in order to streamline some of their web development.
My question to you is how would you implement the Add/Update functions of a data class. I thought about passing a .Net datatable back to the procedure and write/update from that, but I was wondering if anyone has any more elegant solutions.
Thanks,
Mark
