Chris,
I do have a question regarding acquiring iSeries Access 6.1. We're in V5R4 but I would like to install iSeries Access 6.1 mainly to use the improved .NET data provider. I've been told that we need to buy this software. Is this true? Or is there another way to obtain a copy of 6.1?
Thank you,

Hi Mike,
Look @ section 4.6 for calling a program directly or from a stored proc
http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/abstracts/SG246440.html
What do you mean by System APIs? Using the cwbxxx dlls?
The IBM.Data.DB2.iSeries.dll contains CwbCore and CwbDc pinvoke
signatures for internal use, but of course you can use reflection to
access these instead of rewriting them into your own library.
Let us know if you have trouble getting a copy of 6.1 w/o upgrading your
OS to 6.1.

I am doing some research on what the .NET provider can do besides DB2
stuff.
Can I directly call a program or Subprocedure?
Can I use any of the System's APIs?
We are currently on 5.4. Also let me know if anything changes for 6.1.
I am researching a webonization project for our green-screen apps while
allowing users to keep using the green-screen. I am still trying to
figure
out some of the major pieces of the puzzle.
