Being a web guy I've not paid much attention to XAML and WPF. But mylike
recollection is that the tooling around XAML is not great yet. It's
a throwback to MFC days. That's not to say that XAML doesn't rock, seem
rather there aren't great tools for constructing it. Has that changed?
As far as using XAML in WPF, isn't that a core technology. It would
silly to move to WPF and not use XAML, no?
And all Petzold books are good! :-)

I think I have decided to switch from windows forms to WPF for my
desktop programming. The Petzold book on WPF is pretty good. One thing
I like about it is that in the first part of the book all the WPF code
presented is in a WinForms style, without XAML. What I am trying to
research now is whether I should use XAML or not. Here is a good
article on XAML: http://kentb.blogspot.com/2008/01/xaml.html
