Even though they switched us to a user based license, they will still charge for a box change if the new box is rated at a higher CPW. Where they get you is the "minimum # of users" you must pay for based on a box rated for a certain CPW regardless of the P05 or P10 status. It is not a fair charge because even though the box may be moving down a tier, it's price/performance is rated higher due to advances in technology. What they don't take into consideration is that the box may be sized higher in order to support other (not System 21) applications. It's all about the revenue stream.

I remember many years ago, JBA moved their license structure away from box tied and onto user based license meaning that there would be no fee for a box change. You really need to get your hands on the agreement.

Roland,

The same will go for the price for migrating to a new box. The
pricing model will be dependent on the modules that you purchased.
From a personal perspective, 9K does not seem that high.

Subject: [SYSTEM21] License and Transfer Fee

Hi Group,

We currently are looking to upgrade our current 820 (P10) to a new
520 (P05) We have a maintenance contract for 30 users.
They (Infor) would like to charge us almost € 9.000,- only for
transfer !
I do understand that they will charge "something" for the transfer,
but this is ridiculous.
Another problem is that I currently don't have a copy of the signed
contract, and I really don’t know where the maintenance fee ( € 27.400
) is coming from and why this will not be less if we move to a machine
which is in P05.

Can anyone tell me if the 27K is a normal fee for 30 users ???

BR,

Roland
