How many of you remember the brouhaha that Harry Debes started when he wanted to take away our source code?!
There was a mini revolt on this list at that time. The negative publicity this list created at that time was enough to influence geac to back down.

They (geac) eventually agreed to rewrite many of our contracts to allow us to continue to receive and use the source code. If we all hang together and refuse this intrusion into our privacy what is the worst they can do? Sue us all? Force us to move to a competing software package? Oh, wait, they've just bought them too!

Of course they were publicly traded at that time. Private money behaves with different considerations. I don't know if infor
has gotten so big that they would not think twice about pushing their
customers around in public. It would be interesting to see but do you
have the courage of your convictions? If it's written into the contract then what choice do you have?

Many of us have been asking for a tool with which we can measure our seat usage for a long time. They obviously did not want us to know exactly how to size our seat requirements. That would mean we would be empowered with the knowledge we need to potentially reduce our seat licenses during the next budget cycle.

I suspect that infor sees this fishing expedition as a potential source of revenue for their coffers. Perhaps they'll determine that you're using more seats than you've paid for and what data will you have available to you to refute their claim?

More people read this list than you might imagine.
The pen may still be mightier than the sword.
Still, it is difficult, if not impossible, to speak so openly without the veil of anonymity.

Cheers

We were contacted around 4 months ago for another product that is now owned
by GEAC. The audit process will audit ALL GEAC owned software you have,
regardless of what product they are contacting you about. The audit runs on
one networked machine and you are required to e-mail the log every week and
then at the end of the audit. You get a reminder e-mail until it's sent.

I still having received any info back from GEAC or there audit company. Our
CFO wasn't trilled either. GEAC's response to our inquiry was that it is
required and part of your agreement.

Yes, we were just contacted this week as well.

I am a small shop and don't have spare resources to help.. although I am not
sure how much time is required on our part.

I don't know the technical details yet, but since we are a private company,
our CFO isn't going to be very excited about this and may tell me to refuse.

Does anyone know what the customer's obligations are in this regard?

Thanks,

Has anyone else been contacted by Infor about a Compliance Audit? Although I
have no problem with the principle of an audit, I do have a problem with
their methodology. I'm interested if any one else has been approached yet.

Thanks
