The easiest way to convert to a new company, but I'm guessing that isn't an option. Many years ago I was involved in converting a company on S/21 to a new G/L structure. It was a major project and involved 2 test conversions. Changing the chart and converting all existing transactions is the easy part. Finding all the hiding places that hold account codes and converting them, now that's a challenge. In a nutshell yes it can be done, but will need a lot of time, effort and budget dollars to do it right. I seem to recall someone else asking a similar question in this forum a couple of years ago. It would be interesting to hear what they did and how they faired. There are cheats as well such as consolidating to a reporting G/L company which has the new structure, but then you don't get the transactions. HI all, Our finance department is considering renaming the majority of the GL accounts. What they desire is that all transaction plus history be transferred/copied from the old account to the new account. Is anyone aware of a utility that provides this functionality or has anyone undertaken this task in the past? Regards, Robert A.
