Bill.. you ask a very deep and profound question... is there a reason. On many occasions I too have searched for a reason why the software was written as it was. As for the misc charges, my opinion is that the limit of only three is because that's all that would fit nicely on the screen and the developers didn't want to bother with a subfile. As for the different ranges, I guess that make sense to me, it keeps the order charges separate from the invoice charges, quoted vs actual. It looks to me that with sales order charges, sales invoice charges, miscellaneous charges and sundry charges that they only allow up to three sequence numbers for each type (ex. 01-03, 11-13, 21-23, 41-43).
