We have just changed our network and implemented BT IP Clear Network. Our two manufacturing sites use dedicated IP Clear ADSL in to the IP Cloud that links back down to us at the same time we have ISDN backup lines. The routers use a HSRP group on a virtual gateway IP which they both monitor. If the ADSL goes down, with in a few seconds the ISDN will dial up and create the connection through our DR centre back to the Live iSeries. Also on these lines we are running Expand boxes to improve and accelerate data. Kind Regards Glen Boyle Head of IT G.Costa & Co. Quite expensive so we are looking at alternatives. Frame relay has 99.99% uptime and there is an SLA in place. Sprint are moving away from the frame relay market so it is pushing us in the direction of some kind of internet connectivity which is actually better for us because we have a number of sales users who travel and who would like to connect from home/hotels etc. Our problem is capital expense for such an overhaul of the network. It seems we would require new routers to replace our old (but very dependable) 5394 workstation controllers. The headaches of administrating and securing this type of network adds to the challenge. What is the most preferred and dependable architecture used for connectivity between your headquarters and the remote sites? I.E. VPN via Internet, DSL, Frame Relay, Other? _______________________________________________ This is the System 21 Users (SYSTEM21) mailing list To post a message email: SYSTEM21@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/system21 or email: SYSTEM21-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/system21. ______________________________________________________________________ This email has been scanned by the MessageLabs Email Security System.
