I can't vouch for this working, but I seem to recall from somewhere that
in some circumstances, OS/400 requires you to prefix leading digits in a
name with the letter Q, so you could try deleting the object by putting
a Q in front of the name. Alternatively, you could try using Ops
Navigator to delete the object.

Does anyone know of a way to delete an object from a library that has
been created with the name being all numbers (1000997)?

I have tried to delete, rename, etc. but I get the following error
message "Value '1000997 ' for File not a name or generic name".

Thanks in advance for your help.

What kind of object is it? I thought names could not start with a
numeric.

How did this object get created? The iSeries insists on file names begin
with an alpha character.

Unless the name is "1000997".... The double quote is important... Means
it was created more than likely via SQL.

I created an SQL view with the name "1000997" (which creates a LF
object) and was then able to delete it...
