Automating Month-End -- SYSTEM21

Having worked at various other companies running different software, I 
can't believe that the month-end process for JBA isn't automated (that it 
requires manual intervention).  Maybe it's my newbie ignorance, but have 
any of you automated your month-end processes?  And if so, would any of 
you be willing to share that information with me?
