If you are adding an attribute (non-numeric) from a file currently accessed by AFI you can simply add it to the dictionary without any coding work required. Just make sure it follows the rules of the other records on the dictionary. If you need to add another value from an existing file there will be a coding effort required. Again you could add a new file to AFI for either type of field but the coding work increases accordingly.
