You can make some minor changes to display files without causing level checks after the display file is re-compiled and the Program is not.
If you are using the JBA GUI interface there are features within the interface to hide fields and manipulate screen action.
If you choose to change and re-compile your display files I recomend that you rename the Current Object rather than have compile delete and replace it. Then you will still have the display file at the matching level of the program compile. Should testing fail you can rename original display file back.
